Warranty

Two years, and a conversation after that

We make things in small numbers and we put our name on them. If something we built fails because we built it wrong, that is our problem to fix, not yours.

Every Discommon bag carries a two year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, from the date you bought it.

What that covers

Anything that is our fault. Stitching that lets go. A zipper that fails on its own. Hardware that cracks or pulls out. A seam that separates. Coating that delaminates without being provoked. Anything where you look at it and think, that should not have done that.

What we do about it

We repair first. Most failures on a well made bag are small and fixable, and a repaired bag lasts longer than a replaced one because the rest of it is already broken in.

If it cannot be repaired, we replace it. If we no longer make the thing you own, and with limited runs that happens, we will work out something fair with you. We have never let this end badly for a customer and we are not planning to start.

Repairs and replacements under warranty are free, shipping included.

What it does not cover

Wear. A bag that has been used looks used. Scuffs, softening, faded contrast, the shine that comes from a shoulder strap doing its job. That is the bag ageing, not the bag failing.

Damage from things we ask you not to do. Specifically:

  • Heat and sunlight. Do not store the bag in a closed car in summer or leave it in direct sun for long stretches. The coated surface can bubble or lift, and that damage is not reversible.
  • Solvents. Alcohol, hand sanitizer, nail polish remover, bug spray, glass cleaner, acetone. Any of these will attack the surface.
  • Cuts, tears, abrasion and crush damage.
  • Being folded hard under weight for a long time, which cracks the surface along the fold.
  • Airline handling, freight damage, and everything else that happens to a bag out of our sight and yours.

Also outside the warranty: alterations or repairs done by someone else, bags bought secondhand, and bags bought from anyone who is not us. If you bought through a stockist, start with them.

None of that is us looking for an exit. Follow the care guidance that comes with the bag and you will almost certainly never need this section.

Out of warranty

Year three, year six, does not matter. Write to us anyway.

If it is fixable we will quote you the repair at what it costs us plus shipping. We would rather keep a bag in service than sell you a new one, and we would rather hear from you than have you quietly decide we stopped caring at month twenty five.

How to start a claim

Email claims@discommon.com with:

  1. Photos of the problem, and one of the whole bag.
  2. A sentence or two on what happened.
  3. Your order number, or the email you ordered with.

A person reads these. We aim to come back to you within two business days with a plan, not a form.

This warranty covers the original owner and applies to products bought directly from Discommon. It sits alongside your statutory rights and does not replace them.
