Most totes are a sack with two straps: a dirt magnet on the outside, a black hole on the inside. We built a 27-liter tote out of ballistic nylon and edge-painted leather instead. Here is why you will never go back to the sack.

Canvas is a dirt magnet. Leather stays home when it rains. Most totes make you pick one and live with it. We killed canvas in prototyping and built The Asset out of PU-infused ballistic nylon: a polymer-coated body that takes the commute, the trunk, the overhead bin, and then wipes clean with a damp cloth. Black, so the day does not show on it.
The Bright Oslo Interior. You Can See Inside.
Digging through a normal tote is reaching into a void. You end up dumping the whole bag onto the hood of the car to find your keys. We lined the inside of The Asset in bright Oslo teal. It is simple logic: dark objects do not disappear against a bright surface. You look down, you see the keys, you leave.

Magnetic Top Lip. Backup Expansion Zipper.
Brake hard at a yellow light and an open tote empties itself across the passenger floor. Most totes offer nothing against a sudden stop. The Asset closes with a magnetic top lip you snap open and shut with one hand, so you can get in and out all day without looking. For flights, overnights, or the days you pack it to the brim, there is a backup expansion zipper that seals the whole thing.

Pockets That Make Sense.
Most totes are a bucket. Sunglasses, charging cables and loose pens grind against each other at the bottom. We gave your important items an address. A front zip pocket with organizers for your phone and wallet. Mesh pockets inside for the cables. A hidden slip pocket for the passport and anything else you would rather not flash. And a custom Discommon carabiner for the keys, overbuilt like everything we make.

Our friend Riley travels 300-plus days a year. He looked at the backpack-tote hybrid we were building and told us to simplify our sh*t and make a great bottomless tote. So we did. 27 liters holds a gym kit, a day of work, or two nights of clothes. One reviewer said he packed a vintage telephone, a brass vase, a champagne bottle and a full camera kit for a photoshoot.
